Z-Series Packet-Optical Platforms
The Z77 is Cyan’s flagship packet-optical transport platform (P-OTP) optimized for metro and regional core and hub deployments. The Cyan Z77 introduces transformational scale by supporting up to 200 Gbps of capacity per slot and 2.8 Tbps per chassis. At just 13RU in height, the 14-slot Cyan Z77 chassis combines massive capacity with modular functionality at a fraction of the cost of prior generation systems.

High-capacity, Flexible Design
As a key component of an end-to-end Z-Series solution for metro and regional networks, the Z77 supports the same Ethernet, wavelength, OTN, and SONET/SDH service modules as the Cyan Z33 and Z22.
The Z77 also expands the functionality and scale of the Z-Series to support fully non-blocking any-to-any connectivity across the backplane with the XC-2800 multi-terabit switch-fabric. Working in unison with a new family of high-performance service interface modules, the cross-connect fabric enables the Z77 to provide high-density aggregation of 1/10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and 100 GbE services with optional OTN framing, and play a key role in networks that historically required large routers frequently costing an order of magnitude more than an equivalent Z-Series solution.
100G Packet + Optical Industry-First
The scalable Z77 platform converges 100GbE packet switching and transport, 100G coherent optical transponding and muxponding, and multi-degree, 96-channel ROADM functionality that provides the ability to transmit up to 10 Tbps on a single fiber. Unlike competitive solutions, this means service providers and data center operators are assured that a single platform will satisfy all requirements for inter-connecting packet and optical networks at 10G and/or 100G rates, while aggregating and transporting wavelength and Ethernet services with optimal efficiency. As an added benefit, all Z-Series modules support single-slot designs and pluggable CFP and SFP interfaces to ensure space-savings and flexible connectivity.
Carrier Ethernet 2.0
The Z-Series CE 2.0 solution offers a compelling alternative to traditional Ethernet switching and routing architectures for the aggregation and transport of Ethernet services. Cyan’s Z-Series was among the first products to achieve CE 2.0 certification from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), ensuring that the platform provides the QoS, scalability, reliability, and service management capabilities required for carrier-grade Ethernet service delivery. Beyond CE 2.0, the Z-Series platforms deliver non-blocking, line-rate 1/10 GbE and 100 GbE switching, as well as standards-based Connection-oriented Ethernet (COE) to provide more resilient and predictable Ethernet transport. These enhancements overcome the performance limitations found with traditional layer 2/3 Ethernet solutions, allowing network operators to build cost-efficient, performance-assured networks optimized for the delivery of deterministic E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree, and E-Access services.
Cyan Blue Planet and Z-Series
Cyan's Blue Planet SDN platform further enhances the Z-Series solution. Blue Planet includes a family of open, carrier-grade software applications designed to simplify end-to-end service deployment and orchestration across multi-vendor, multi-domain networks. Planet Orchestrate automates the creation of services comprised of physical and virtual resources across the WAN and the Telco NFV Cloud; Planet Operate provides a multi-layer, multi-vendor network control and management system with 3D visualization; Planet View enables multi-layer performance monitoring and SLA assurance; Planet Inventory delivers full-featured asset and circuit inventory reporting and verification; and Planet Design enables customers to design multi-layer networks. Finally, Blue Planet's suite of open, northbound APIs transform the network to become more dynamic and agile, where services and infrastructure are controlled as programmable resources.
