The Z77 is Cyan’s flagship packet-optical transport platform (P-OTP) optimized for metro and regional core and hub deployments. The Cyan Z77 introduces transformational scale by supporting up to 200 Gbps of capacity per slot and 2.8 Tbps per chassis. At just 13RU in height, the 14-slot Cyan Z77 chassis combines massive capacity with modular functionality at a fraction of the cost of prior generation systems.

High-capacity, Flexible Design
As a key component of an end-to-end Z-Series solution for metro and regional networks, the Z77 supports the same Ethernet, wavelength, OTN, and SONET/SDH service modules as the Cyan Z33 and Z22.
The Z77 also expands the functionality and scale of the Z-Series to support fully non-blocking cross-connection of Ethernet and OTN services with the XC-2800 switch-fabric. Working in unison with a new family of high-performance service interface modules, the cross-connect fabric enables the Z77 to scale to in excess of four billion packets-per-second (pps) of line-rate, high-density traffic aggregation, and play a key role in networks that historically required large routers frequently costing an order of magnitude more than an equivalent Z-Series solution.
The high-performance Z77 platform supports non-blocking, "True 100G" designs that deliver greater than 100Gbps per slot. In fact, Cyan's single-slot 100G coherent transponder for the Z-Series sets an industry benchmark for density and flexibility by delivering 100G in a single slot module supporting the full range of client side optical reach capabilities. This flexibility is the result of integrated support for short, long and extended reach from C Form-factor Pluggable (CFP) client interfaces. Unlike competitive solutions, this means service providers and data center operators are assured that a single slot will satisfy all optical reach requirements.
Carrier Ethernet 2.0
Cyan’s Z-Series was among the first products to achieve Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE2.0) certification from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), ensuring that the platform enables cost-effective Ethernet service delivery with carrier-grade capabilities such as QoS, scalability, reliability, and service management. Beyond CE2.0, the Z77 implements COE) to provide more resilient and predictable Ethernet transport. COE overcomes the performance limitations found with traditional layer 2 Ethernet solutions, ensuring guaranteed bandwidth and carrier-class protection switching in 50 milliseconds or less. The Z-Series and COE allow network operators to build cost-efficient, performance-assured networks optimized for the delivery of more deterministic E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree, and E-Access services. And simple point-and-click, multi-vendor provisioning with Blue Planet simplifies service orchestration and ongoing operations support for superior end-to-end performance.
Cyan Blue Planet and Z-Series
Cyan Blue Planet software provides open, multi-vendor orchestration for multiple layers across the WAN and naturally provides excellent element-, network- and services-level management for Z-Series P-OTPs. Customers use Blue Planet software for multi-layer visualization of end-to-end network connections. Planet Design enables you to see performance, scalability, and resiliency implications while in the network design phase. Planet Operate provides 3D multi-layer network status and relationships between fibers, wavelengths, and any associated aggregation and service layers as well as integrated multi-vendor, multi-domain orchestration. Planet View provides multi-layer performance monitoring and SLA assurance. Finally, Planet Inventory provides full-featured asset and circuit inventory reporting and verification capabilities.
